After the New York date of their tour was cancelled last night due to the weather, members of Thrice, Brand New and mewithoutYou performed a handful of acoustic Christmas carols outside the venue for everyone who was braving the cold just to see the show.

The tour played Toronto’s Arrow Hall this past Thursday and for some reason, I didn’t go. I told myself it was because I had already seen this tour in Detroit a few months back (see Next Stop, Detroit!).

This is why I love these bands.

Oh, and the music…right.

that brand new show at arrow hall was the most boring show i have seen in a long time.

thrice played really well, but brand new were just dull. when i first saw them on the moneen/face to face/riddlin kids tour they had this energy about them that i always wish would return. The recent show was energetic, but they were trying too hard to be broken social scene. The duet with dude from me without you (complete with accordian) was poorly placed in the set (right after their first uptempo song) and it really killed the flow of the show.

it was nice to see them taking chances (two drum kits) but it was just not executed as well as i would hope from the perfectionist that is jesse lacey.
